Outside the Box
Welcome to House Design Online’s new “Outside the Box” video page
As the page title suggests, we want to suggest ways to think outside the box when it comes to “design” and “architecture”. Many of the homes that we live in are no more than boxes, whose primary function is to contain us, supply us with bedding, water, food processing and sanitation. Of course there are many who lack even these essential elements but our homes, no matter how basic have many other roles which have been neglected in modern architecture.

Terreform ONE [Open Network Ecology]
is a non-profit philanthropic design collaborative that integrates ecological principles in the urban realm. The group was formed for the advancement of socio-ecological science and the dissemination of this knowledge through diverse projects. In furtherance of these sustainable intentions, the group has created a unique laboratory for scientists, artists, architects, students, and individuals of all backgrounds to explore the larger framework of green design. We are currently working on innovative processes and appropriate technologies for local sustainability in such matters as energy, transportation, infrastructure, buildings, waste treatment, food, water, and media culture. Our goal is to illuminate the environmental future of New York City and inspire solutions in areas like it around the world.
